Twyford House Resident Has Lamb Named After Her!

If you follow us on social media, you may have seen that residents have been meeting virtually with children and staff from Townhouse Nurseries in Alsager. Bringing together our residents and the wonderful young people at Townhouse Nurseries forms parts of our intergenerational care initiative, which brings about many benefits for all involved including inducing laughter, prompting reminiscence and boosting literacy, language and social skills.

Since Christmas, residents and staff at Twyford House have had the pleasure of meeting virtually with the preschool children, receiving pictures and letters from them, and even planting sunflower seeds with them via Zoom!

Ewe Herd It Here First!

We were thrilled to discover that one of the children at Townhouse Nurseries, Alexa, recently named one of her new lambs on her family farm after one of our residents, Ro!

What makes this particularly special is that Ro is very fond of lambs and sheep, so she was thrilled to discover that she had a little baby lamb named after her. Everyone had such a fantastic time looking at the pictures of Ro sent over by Alexa and her family.

Residents were also very excited to receive a visit from the new lamb a few days later. Everyone got the opportunity to pet, cuddle and feed Ro the lamb, and as you can see from the photographs there were smiles all around at Twyford House.

Looking To The Future

We are so looking forward to developing our relationship with Townhouse Nurseries as the year progresses! Everyone here at Twyford House has really enjoyed getting to know the preschool children via Zoom and seeing them during window visits to our care home in Alsager. We very much hope as the year progresses we will be able to incorporate more face to face activities and meetups with the children so care home residents can enjoy the benefits that come with spending time with young people.
