Lovett Care Residents Enjoy Armed Forces Day at Longton Park

Some of the residents from Lovett Care Homes in Stoke on Trent attended the Armed Forces Day Event in Longton Park on 30th June 2019. Now in its 11th year the event brings together veterans, serving personnel and the public for a family friendly day filled with fun and appreciation of past and present military personnel. There was a full military parade and drumhead service involving veterans, serving military and cadets, with family members invited to parade wearing medals of lost love ones. With music from the era by Penkhull Brass Band and a Second World War sing-a-long, and a George Formby tribute act too. They had a great day watching the parade, looking at old army vehicles and listening to the brass band. Hotdogs and ice cream were also a joy of the day. Visiting an event like this is important to residents from Hilton House and Goldendale House as it helps them to recall memories, share stories and stimulate conversations about their own experiences. We believe that taking part in community events like this one helps those within our care to avoid becoming isolated and lonely.
